Training whip, Purple Zebra color selection
I purchased this item for lunging and round pen work. This whip is sturdy and easy to "pop". It pops in the air and does not require contact with the horse to facilitate the sound. For the record, if I ever do make "contact" with the horse using the whip, it is a gentle flick or a light touch, so that they know it is there. I am not cracking it down on them or acting like I'm Indiana Jones.
This whip is very similar to Clinton Anderson's Handy stick with Aussie string, which runs about $60.
The string on the whip is removable as well, you can use it for de-sense training, general cues, etc.
With the string attached, it is easy to use this whip to urge a horse around the round pen, and I also use the string as a de-sense tool.
This stick is made of fiber glass, which gives it minimal bend. However, I have used mine for 2 years and not had a problem with it. I lunge Apache once a week or so just to keep her fresh on the basics.
